Fahrenheit Universities’ Tram

FarU tram

Fahrenheit University tram

The Fahrenheit University tram set off on Gdańsk tracks on the 24th of May. The first service is associated with Daniel Fahrenheit’s birthday – the creator of a temperature scale and the inventor of the mercury thermometer. He was born in Gdańsk as well. The idea of this special tram stemmed from the vision of integration of all main universities in Gdańsk. Among the participants in the ceremony were Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, the president of Gdańsk, Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, rector of Gdańsk University, Prof. Adriana Zalewska-Medynska, director of Fahrenheit Union of Universities, Prof. Michał Markuszewski, vice-rector of MUG for Science and Prof. Dariusz Mikielewicz,vice- rector of Gdańsk University of Technology for Organisation and Development.

During the meeting, some of the presentations given were about Farenheit Days – about  Farenheit Science Picnic and FarU scholarships for students in particular.

The tram will run through various routes, and it certainly will always make it to its destination.

It is yet another vehicle associated with this great scientist. For several years now, Gdansk public transportation commuters have had the opportunity to take tram no. 1015 – the Pesa Swing 120NaG SWING, whose patron is Daniel Fahrenheit. More information is available at gdansk.pl and trojmiasto.pl.
