Once again three overseas PhD students have been selected to receive the Daniel Fahrenheit Scholarship funded by the Mayor of Gdańsk in consultation with the Fahrenheit Universities. They will start the internship in our universities - the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk.

The winners will continue their interdisciplinary research as part of their doctoral dissertation at one of the Fahrenheit Universities during the one-year internship. The winners are entitled not only to a scholarship at PLN 6,500 net per month for the entire duration of their stay, but also to free accommodation.

Fahrenheit Scholarship holders - III edition

Following the evaluation of applications meeting the formal criteria, the committee selected the following winners:

1^st place – Gilvana Pereira Siqueira from Brazil (Federal University of Uberlândia), whose researchs focus on the use of sustainable materials for the manufacturing of modern, 3D printable electrochemical sensors.

Host higher education institution: Gdańsk University of Technology

2^nd place – Nathalia Pavan from Universidade Estadual Paulista - UNESP. Druing the internship she is planning to explore a theoretical approaches for characterization of potential ligands binding in fatty acid binding sites in human serum albumin.

Host higher education institution: University of Gdańsk

3^rd place – Yimer Mekonnen Kasse, a PhD student of the Ghent University. The goal of his research is the sustainable removal of anthelmintics as emerging environmental contaminants of high concern.

Host higher education institution: Medical University of Gdańsk 

The internship is scheduled to start at the beginning of January 2025.
