The academic and local government tradition, in the form of the annual parade of Pomeranian higher education institutions under the slogan “Long Live Science!”, will take place on 10 October. This year’s edition is hosted by the Fahrenheit Universities in Gdańsk in a new, expanded composition, together with the City of Gdańsk.

The joint opening of the academic year in Gdańsk will be held for the fifth time. For years, the ceremony has brought together representatives of the scientific and artistic circles, local government officials, and residents, highlighting the importance of cooperation for the development of the region, based on the responsible use of the potential of science.

For the first time, the organisers are acting in a bigger team, as the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk, which form the Fahrenheit Universities, have been joined by the Academy of Fine Arts and the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music. The authorities of the Union emphasise that expanding its composition is another stage in the development of cooperation, which was initiated earlier – an example being the regularly held Pomeranian Academy of Public Space Planning . The universities have jointly supported and will continue to support the activities of local government officials aimed at establishing a metropolitan union in the Pomeranian Region.

The parade of higher education institutions, scheduled for 10 October, will begin at 11:00 am at the Golden Gate and will end at the forecourt of the Artus Court. Short speeches by university authorities and students are planned there. The parade will be accompanied by artistic groups, university choirs, and musical accompaniment by the Gdańsk Academic Orchestra.

*On this day, between 10:00 and 12:30, traffic disruptions may occur on Długa Street and on Targ Węglowy along the section between the Torture House and the Golden Gate.
